Young Artist Scholarship Competition

Supporting High School Music

Lakeshore Symphonic Band is proud to continue its tradition of sponsoring the Annual Young Artist Scholarship Competition. Student musicians from area school bands have an opportunity to audition and perform a concerto accompanied by the Lakeshore Symphonic Band at our Spring Concert.

Scholarship Award

In addition to performing with the band in concert, the student will be awarded a $500 scholarship.

Auditions

Participation is on a voluntary basis and the winner is selected through an audition process. Auditions this season take place March 13, 2012 and our Spring Concert is on May 6, 2012 at 3:00pm.

Contest Information

To participate in the 2012 Young Artist Competition you must choose a piece which has an available band or chamber wind ensemble accompaniment. For most instruments there are numerous concertos available with band accompaniment. We have made a suggested repertoire list available to give you some ideas although many more are available.

Some compositions are only available as rentals. These will usually not be considered for the competition due to the extremely high cost of renting the set of parts for the band.

If you have questions regarding acceptable music or the Concerto Competition, please send your email inquiry to the Concerto Committee.
